Time to settle BA dispute
THE strike threat at British Airways has gone on far too long.
If this great British company is to prosper it will need to demonstrate orderly industrial relations and reliability of service.
An offer that guarantees two years of future pay rises is one that workers in many other enterprises would be delighted with. Unite leader Tony Woodley is right to postpone a new strike ballot in order to put the company’s latest proposals to his members.
If they reach a deal BA can take wing. But if they insist on more strikes a bumpy landing for the company will grow increasingly likely.
