Mixed-sex wards still here
BACK when he was Leader of the Opposition, Tony Blair first promised to abolish mixed-sex wards. That was 14 years ago.
Despite Labour having been in office through a decade of plenty in which spending on the NHS nearly trebled,
mixed sex wards were not done away with.
Now, with the public finances wrecked, the reality is that they will continue to disgrace British healthcare for many years to come, despite being detested by patients.
Mr Blair, with his creosote tan and untold millions in the bank, will certainly never have to put up with one. Does he ever feel a twinge of guilt that the same cannot be said for the rest of us?
