Spring brings hay fever misery
IF YOU are wheezing, sneezing and mouth breathing, your eyes itching, nose running, head thumping, nights disturbed, you are among the quarter of Brits afflicted by hay fever.
This, as you will know all too well if you are a sufferer, is an annus horribilis for hay fever victims.
The early hot weather combined with last year’s mild autumn have sent the pollen count soaring and it’s still only March!
Those who sail through the summer blissfully smelling the roses have no idea just how debilitating hay fever can be.
Dr Sarah Jarvis, BBC Radio 2’s GP, suggested – alongside the usual pills, sprays and antihistamines – wearing wrap-around sunglasses to shield the eyes from spores, coating the nostrils with Vaseline and never, ever under any circumstances hanging your washing on the line.
It may smell spring-like when you take it down but it’ll be riddled with the dreaded pollen.
