John Bercow’s puzzling coat of arms
MANY things are puzzling about the Commons Speaker John Bercow’s extraordinary decision to have his own coat of arms created.
It has cost us taxpayers £37,000 and the inclusion of the scimitars from the flag of Essex is either utterly crass or shows a glorious sense of self-deprecation by Bercow, as the end product clearly deserves to be on TOWIE.
The motto “All Are Equal” is also deliciously ironic. Does this over-cosseted buffoon really think all of us can afford this self-indulgent trash? Also, many have said the ladder is meant to show his ascent from relatively humble beginnings as the son of a North London cabbie. That’s not actually correct.
The ladder is actually used by Bercow when he wants to scramble up to the same height as his towering missus.
