Sir Alex Ferguson news: Countdown’s Rachel Riley pens emotional message to Man Utd legend
SIR ALEX FERGUSON is currently in intensive care after undergoing emergency surgery from a brain haemorrhage on Saturday and now Countdown star Rachel Riley has penned her well wishes to the former Manchester United manager.

The 32-year-old Maths Whizz wished the ex football boss a “speedy recovery” on Twitter after he was rushed to Salford Royal hospital last weekend.
In view of her 564,000 followers, she uploaded a picture of her laughing alongside the sports legend with the caption: “EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US LOVES ALEX FERGUSON.
“In a real way Wishing the boss a full and speedy recovery and sending love to his friends and family from his United extended family xxxx #SirAlex.”(sic)
Rachel’s message was retweeted by her colleague Nick Hewer, which also prompted her social media fans to send their well wishes.
One user wrote: "Anyone who knows anything about football, regardless of who they support, knows he was a genius and the best manager in the business. Wishing him a speedy recovery.”
Another commented: “We sure do Rachel, come on Sir Alex.”
Last year, Rachel revealed she had a photo of Alex, 76, in her living room and spilled her partner Pasha Kovalev, 37, didn’t know who he was.
She told The Sun: “My other half hadn’t heard of him and wasn’t interested in football. He knows all about Sir Alex now.
“I have a photo of him in the lounge. I’ve not got one of us.”
Last weekend, a Manchester United spokesperson informed news outlets about Alex’s tragic ordeal.


They said: “Sir Alex has undergone emergency surgery today for a brain haemorrhage.
“The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery. His family request privacy."
Rachel was among various celebrates who wished the football star a speedy recovery.
Newsreader Mark Austin penned: “Sir Alex Ferguson recently gave a couple of hours of his time to my son, an aspiring football coach. It was generous. We wish him well. #SirAlex.”
This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes described Alex as "an amazing man".


He commented: “Praying for The Boss that he makes a full recovery from his Brain Haemorrhage.
“So much part of my life personally and professionally for over 30 years. An amazing man and friend. #MUFC.”(sic)
Professional boxer Tony Bellew described Alex as “the greatest manager”.
He penned: “Thoughts are with the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson right now.. Hearing he’s in hospital so hope he’s ok.
“The greatest manager I’ve ever seen.. #GetWellSirAlex,” he added.
