The Ant and Dec star sought further rehab treatment on Wednesday, hours after the 42-year-old presenter had been charged with drink-driving.
It came after Ant entered rehab for the first time last year, with an addiction to painkillers following a knee operation back in 2015.
Piers Morgan has now spoken out about the news, in which the outspoken TV presenter claimed that the Saturday Night Takeaway presenter was “causing havoc”.
Speaking at the Royal Television Society Awards in London on Tuesday, he said: “Ant’s causing havoc for everyone.
Ant’s causing havoc for everyone.
“He just needs to go for treatment and stay there this time,” he continued. “A lot of other people are affected by this.”
However Piers, who worked with the presenter while appearing as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, was more sympathetic this morning, as he shared a message of support with his 6.45 million Twitter followers.
The Good Morning Britain star wrote: “Hate to see Ant McPartlin like this. He’s a great guy (genuinely, a delight to work with in an industry full of.... less delightful people) who’s obviously going through a lot of inner turmoil.
“Just hope he now gets the proper time & help he needs to sort himself out.”

Meanwhile, Declan Donnelly was reunited with his co-star that afternoon, for the first time since the incident in south west London on Sunday.
According to reports, the Geordie duo had a “very emotional meeting”, in which Dec inundated his close pal with “hugs and reassurances”.
Dec, 42, will return to the small screen next week to present Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway without his TV partner.
