As the TV host was introduced to the royal, she told him about her most recent ITV show.
Explaining which show she presented, she said: “The lovely show of Love Island, which I’m sure you’ll have heard of right?”
Clearly not a fan of the dating show, Prince Charles replied: “What is it?”
Giggling at the awkward incident, she explained: “It’s a dating show.”
Eager to find out more, the royal quizzed: “And your who goes on it?”
“No, I host it. But people go on it to find love, and they do,” she replied.
Caroline shared a clip of the hilarious moment on Instagram, to which one amused follower commented: “I love this, you managed to explain it in a very Royal appropriate fashion.”
Some eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot the expression on Phillip Schofield’s face, with one writing: “The look on @schofe face!! Priceless.”
