Speaking at the end of the episode which aired on Channel 4, Bill became extremely emotional as he recalled the conversation.
I've had an amazing life
He said: "I remember my daughter came and I said, 'Well, I've got to tell you - I've got cancer'. And I had to tell my sons on the phone... we all cried."
The 62-year-old admitted the days after the diagnosis were "probably the worst few days of my life".
He continued: “If I had a test a few years ago we would have diagnosed it early and knocked it on the head early and my survival would be a lot better.”
Bill is now on a course of chemotherapy and is more optimistic about the future.
