The film producer had been eating in an upscale restaurant in Arizona when a man is said to have slapped him twice across the face.
A video of the incident, published by TMZ, shows Weinstein stumbling away from the camera, while the diner is heard saying: “You’re such a piece of s*** for what you did to these women.”
A dishevelled Weinstein was pictured wearing a dark hat and a stained T-shirt.
The man, named only as Steve by the website, is believed to have approached the movie mogul earlier in the evening asking for a photograph.
The disgraced film producer is thought to currently be receiving treatment in Arizona
Speaking to TMZ, he said that after refusing the request “Weinstein became belligerent and told him to buzz off”.
The manager of the restaurant, based in Scottsdale, reportedly denied this claim, saying that Weinstein was “very sweet about it,” and said: “I’d rather not take a picture right now.”
According to audio published, Weinstein can be heard having a friendly chat with the fellow diner.

Steve told TMZ that he had had “quite a bit to drink”, and had told a friend to film a video as he walked up to the 65-year-old for the second time.
Weinstein, who is allegedly receiving treatment at a rehab centre close to the restaurant, reportedly declined to call the police.
It comes after Hollywood film stars donned a black dress code and “Time’s Up” pins for the 75th Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.
