The TV star, who passed away today at the age of 60, posted to his 173,000 followers on September 28: "Still not right. I will be back - But not for a bit yet. I'm so sorry."
It came just two months after he apologised for fans for his silence on social media as his health deteriorated.
"Apologies for not tweeting," he wrote on June 29. "Back as soon as Xxx promise."
Keith's family confirmed his death this afternoon in a statement noting he died peacefully in his sleep.

His wife Maria, his daughter Rose and his son Ted were all by his side.
Stars have taken to social media following the news to pay tribute to the presenter, who is best known for his time on Swap Shop and Cheggers Plays Pop.
Big Breakfast presenter Gaby Roslin shared: "No. I can't bear the news. Not him.
"I was blessed to work with Keith Chegwin on the Big Breakfast and he was a happy and joyous man. So generous and kind. Bye, bye Cheggers. So so sad. My love to his family."
Meanwhile, broadcaster Tony Blackburn added: "I'm absolutely devastated to hear that my friend Keith Chegwin has died.
