Paul Daniels’ widow has revealed how she was unable to hear her cue after being “flung in the air” by partner Giovanni Pernice during their performance to I Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You on the BBC hit.
The 59-year-old also needed to make a last minute change to her costume to make sure the pair’s “big lift” went off safely.
Speaking just hours before she dances at the Blackpool Tower ballroom, Debbie commented: “We’ve got two big group numbers this week and I’ve enjoyed watching the professionals at work.
“But we don’t get much rehearsal time – what I really don’t like is that we only have one run-through in costume.”

I couldn’t hear my musical cue for when I had to let my hand go
Debbie went on to detail her own problems ahead of her and 27-year-old Giovanni’s Samba to a Spice Girls medley.
“Last week, we had to cut off two rows of frills from my red salsa dress so that Giovanni could safely grab my hand through my legs during our big lift,” the television personality stated.
Debbie continued in her Daily Telegraph column: “When he told me what we were going to do I thought he was joking, but I always trust that he won’t drop me.”

It all came close to going horribly wrong for the duo but thankfully the pair went on to win 35 points and third place on the table.
Debbie added: “However, during the live show, as I was being flung in the air, I couldn’t hear my musical cue for when I had to let my hand go, so I just had to guess – it was a bit of a risk really, but I knew I was safe.”
Strictly Come Dancing 2017 continues Saturday at 6.45pm on BBC One.
