GLORIA HUNNIFORD has spoken of her shock after finding herself on a terrorist hitlist while working in Germany.

The veteran broadcaster was told she could be in danger while recording messages from family for British troops for her radio show, Ulster Calling.
The 77-year-old was told she was on the IRA “death list” by a brigadier and was forced to check her car for bombs on returning home.
Recalling the conversation, Gloria commented: “I was stunned. We just sat there, staring blankly at each other.”
He informed her and her co-host that everyone would understand if they wanted to stop doing the programme, however they remained defiant.

Loose Women's Gloria continued: “I’d got three young kids who needed both their parents. But we’d been doing the programme for the British Forces Broadcasting Service since 1969 and any ‘damage’ had already been done.
“So we both shrugged and said ‘What’s the point in stopping now?’”
During her interview with the Daily Mirror, Gloria said she had been determined to carry on, however admitted it was still a “shocking” revelation.

The star, who worked on the show in the 70s and 80s, added: “Army security came to my house and told me, ‘You must keep these curtains shut’.
“I was taught how to check for trip bombs under the car before getting in. So I did all that – for about two weeks. Then I forgot and got on with my life.”
She was married to her first husband Don Keating at the time.
