THE X FACTOR star Honey G has revealed the reason she decided to keep her sexuality a secret while she competed on the ITV singing competition.

Honey G feared backlash over sexuality during X Factor
Speaking on Lorraine, she confessed that she feared a negative reaction which may have impacted her progress on the show.
The rapper confirmed that she was a lesbian yesterday evening explaining that she didn't feel "ready" to come out to the public.
Host Lorraine Kelly probed the star on why she didn't feel she could reveal her sexuality to the public, asking: "Do you think on X Factor you think there would have been a backlash perhaps?
"There have been gay acts on X Factor and gay winners but did you feel that might have happened to you?"

"I was worried about a backlash, you're always worried about the haters," Honey G admitted. "And then the last thing I wanted was homophobic haters, I am always worried about people being homophobic."
Lorraine sympathised with the singer, replying: "That's really sad. So, so sad. What sort of reaction have you had now? Has it been mostly positive?"
"Mostly positive comments that I've seen on Twitter and Instagram," Honey noted. "I'm completely overwhelmed by the support I've been getting."

Honey G insisted that her nude photoshoot was not a publicity stunt
The 36-year-old also responded to criticism that her nude shoot for The Sun, in which she confirmed she was gay, was a publicity stunt.
"By all means it is not a publicity stunt, that's not really my style, I'm not like that," she insisted.
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 8.30am.
