CHILDREN'S TV star Carol Lee Scott, who is best known for her role as Grotbags the witch, has died.

The actress passed away at the age of 74, her niece confirmed on Twitter early this monring.
She wrote: "My dear aunty Carol passed away yesterday, RIP #Grotbags, I will miss you."
Carol appeared in several children's programmes between 1980 and the early 1990s.
Her most famous character Grotbags originally appeared in Emu's World but due to her popularity she was given a show of her own, which had three seasons.

The entertainers created the infamous role when she worked in Cleethorpes alongside fellow star Rod Hull.
When Rod was offered his own TV show, he suggested that Carol join him as Grotbags allowing her to thrill a whole new audience of children.
Following the news of her death, many took to social media to comment on her passing and pay tribute.

Comedian Rufus Hound shared: "Very sorry for your loss. An icon for folk of my generation. Thank you for her."
Meanwhile, another fan of Grotbags tweeted: "I'm so sad. Just about the right amount of scary for kids #Grotbags."
As a second added: "I'm so sorry to hear about your aunty Carol, she was fabulous. #Grotbags was the first 'baddie' that I loved."
