Brad Pitt says divorce has been 'jarring for kids’ as custody battle 'ripped family apart'
Opening up in a candid new interview with GQ Style magazine, the Hollywood actor, 53, spoke about the repercussions of his divorce from Angelina and revealed that things became increasingly difficult when Child Services got involved.
Brad, who shares six children with Angelina, three of whom he adopted during their relationship, admitted: "I was really on my back and chained to a system when Child Services was called.
"After that, we've been able to work together to sort this out. We're both doing our best, I heard one lawyer say, 'No one wins in court - it's just a matter of who gets hurt worse'. And it seems to be true.
"You spend a year just focused on building a case to prove your point and why you're right and why they're wrong, and it's just an investment in vitriolic hatred."

Brad said that his divorce has been very jarring for his children
It's just very, very jarring for the kids, to suddenly have their family ripped apart
He continued: "I just refuse. And fortunately my partner in this agrees. It's just very, very jarring for the kids, to suddenly have their family ripped apart.
"Kids are so delicate. They absorb everything. They need to have their hand held and things explained. They need to be listened to. When I get in that busy work mode, I'm not hearing. I want to be better at that."
It was claimed that Angelina had filed for divorce following an alleged altercation on a private jet between Brad and their 15-year-old son, Maddox.

Following the reported incident, Brad was investigated by the FBI after an anonymous tip-off.
It was later closed with no charges, but the actor was then hit with a series of obstacles from Child Services as he attempted to gain access to his brood.
Tired of the case tearing their family apart, Brad and Angelina have now decided to start group counselling as a family.
The actor hinted that his break-up was self-inflicted
In the candid interview, the actor also hinted that his break-up was "self-inflicted" as he admitted to battles with alcohol and a busy schedule.
He divulged: "I can't remember a day since I got out of college when I wasn't boozing or had a spliff, or something.
"I stopped everything when I started my family. But even this last year, you know - things I wasn't dealing with. I was boozing too much. It's just become a problem."
