The 70-year-old - who took to Instagram earlier this week to thank fans for their well wishes - said that he has "so much more to do" despite the recent health scare.
In an interview with The Sun, Sir Elton insisted: “I’m not finished yet! I’m more interested in keeping going. I have so much more to do.
“I’m not nostalgic. I don’t think about my place in music history at all. You have to keep trying to improve as you get older.”
The musician's comments come after he revealed that he became “violently” ill during a flight back to Britain following a performance in Santiago, Chile, on April 10.

In turn, the singer has been forced to cancel a string of concerts while he recovers from the terrifying illness.
Breaking his silence on social media, the star assured his fans that he’s still standing in a heartwarming post which read: "Woke up this morning to an avalanche of kindness and well wishes. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude.
"Thanks so much to everyone for reaching out. I'm resting well and getting stronger every day. I'm looking forward to getting back on tour in June."
