The film star has admitted he would have died a "long time ago" if it wasn't for his wife Shakira, but now wants to see his grandchildren grow up into their teens.
The 84-year-old now reportedly bans all sugar, salt and gluten from meals but is fearful of cancer.
Opening up about his shrinking figure, Sir Michael commented: "I know my days are numbered and that’s the main worry."
The actor continued: "I’ve had to cut back on the drinking and I’m always looking up what’s the best thing against cancer, so I’ll eat that or do this or not do that.

"I’ll probably drop dead talking to you but you know I’ve lost 30lbs just because I want to see my grandchildren. They’re twins of six and a boy of seven. I’d like to get to 17 for the boy," during an interview with The Sun on Sunday.
Sir Michael went on to credit his spouse, 70, for keeping him going, following their nuptials back in 1973.
"Without her I’d have been dead long ago. I used to drink a bottle of vodka a day and smoke several packs of cigarettes," he added.

Sir Michael added: "The film business will have to give me up, not the other way around."
