The 26-year-old UN Women Goodwill Ambassador spoke out about the whole thing while promoting her latest film Beauty and the Beast; in which she stars as Belle alongside actor Dan Stevens.
The Harry Potter actress passionately defended the shoot, which saw her posing topless underneath a white shawl in one of her sexiest shots to date.
Talking to the BBC, Emma said: "Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women. It's about freedom, it's about liberation, it's about equality.
"I really don't know what my t**s have to do with it. It's very confusing. I'm always quietly stunned."

"They were saying I couldn't be a feminist and have boobs," she added to her co-star Dan.
Emma also admitted she was "surprised" when she first saw the results of the shoot.
The beauty went on: “I was honestly slightly taken aback by it because it sort of hadn’t – you know – we’d been doing so many crazy things on that shoot but it had really felt incredibly artistic and I’d been so creatively involved and engaged with Tim [Walker] and I was so thrilled with how interesting and beautiful the photographs were.”

Emma sparked an online frenzy over the images
After Emma's cover emerged online, one social media user took to Twitter to post: "She is a hypocrite for it, she should issue a retraction & apologise to the feminists she shamed."
"Emma Watson has shamed and policed other women for doing stuff like this, so she is a hypocrite," another added.
However, others were quick to jump to Emma's defence, with one person posting: "I think the reaction to Emma Watson's 'topless' photo proves exactly why feminism is necessary and not that she is a hypocrite."
A different social networker shared: "Why is @EmmaWatson being called a hypocrite for not wearing a bra on a mag cover? Didn't they burn bras in the 60s? For #Feminism?"
