DJ Julia Hartley-Brewer, who works for talkSPORT, told her 62,000 Twitter followers today: “I'm sorry Tara Palmer-Tomkinson has died but can we please stop pretending she was anything more than a posh version of a reality TV star.”
The post attracted 54 retweets and 310 likes on the micro-blogging site, however her comment also got plenty of criticism from other social media users.
One person posted: “@JuliaHB1 heartless cow, sometimes you don't need to tweet every stupid thing you think.”
While another said: “@JuliaHB1 I just cannot see the point in this sort of tweet. Be sad or say nothing. Don't pretend to be some righteous truth teller.”
A third added: “@JuliaHB1 yuk can you stop pretending to be a brunette porky older Katie Hopkins.”
It was evident that she has sparked a backlash as she later tweeted: “Soooo much abuse on Twitter today. It's like a YTS scheme for snowflakes. But at least it keeps them busy and off the streets.”

As the outcry continued, Julia shared another message from her Twitter account in which she posted a screen shot of one irate person slamming her as a “vulture” for her comment.
Along with pictures of the tweets, Julia jokingly captioned the image: “Serious second husband material here…”
Despite her scathing critique of Tara, many others have paid tribute to the former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star.
Janet Street-Porter hailed her a “bubbly” and “lovely” woman on Loose Women today, saying: “She was such a lovely, lovely person, I don’t remember one time where she didn’t make me laugh."

Janet went on to address Tara's public battle with addiction and drugs, explaining: “Yes, she had problems with drugs, but, really, she just struggled to live up to the reputation she was given of 'It Girl'.
“She just wanted to find a man and play the piano at home!”
