Peter Sarstedt dead: singer-songwriter dies aged 75
PETER SARSTEDT has died at the age of 75, his family have confirmed.

He is said to have passed away peacefully in his sleep after suffering from a rare progressive neurological condition called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a family statement said.
In the statement it was said Sarstedt’s closest family members were "with him to the last" and many people were going to be missing his music and songs, the BBC reported.
The singer-songwriter, who was best know for his chart-topping 1969 hit Where do you go to (my lovely), which reached number one in the UK singles charts.
The track stayed in the top spot for a month and also proved to a success in many other countries.
Where do you go to (my lovely) went on to win the Ivor Novello award for song composition.
His music went onto reached new generations after director Wes Anderson used it in his films Hotel Chevalier and The Darjeeling Limited.

Over the course of his career that spanned over five decades Sarstedt continued to release albums and wrote than more about a dozen.
Sarstedt released his last album Restless Heart in 2013, even though on his website he is said to have retired from the entertainment industry at the end of 2010 due to ill health.
The singer was born to a musical family in India and he along with his fellow brothers scored hits in the UK singles charts.
