The Pogues hitmaker looked frail as he arrived at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in County Tipperary, Ireland, alongside his wife Victoria Mary Clarke and sister Siobhan.
Keeping his dark sunglasses firmly on, the 59-year-old was led into the service in a wheelchair to pay his respects.
Shane's mum, who was in her late 80s, passed after her car collided with a wall in the nearby area.
The incident took place at 3pm local time on January 1 and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Siobhan was one of the pallbearers on the day alongside her father and Therese's husband Maurice.
Shane's mum, who was originally from Tipperary, moved to Kent in the UK when Shane was born with her spouse.
However, when he was a child, the family moved back to Silvermines and have remained there ever since.

Speaking of Therese's death, a neighbour of the family previously told the Irish Mirror: "It's such a tragedy given the time of year. She was a lady and it's going to be tough for the family."
Shane's attendance comes just days after he attended the star-studded funeral of former Pogues manager Frank Murray.
Sir Bob Geldof, Brush Shiels, Thin Lizzy drummer Brian Downey and Finbar Furey were also among the mourners.
