MANY people are left star-struck in the presence of screen-legend Meryl Streep.

But one unlucky aide was nearly struck in a different way in Italy this week when she was forced to duck a large umbrella wielded by the actress.
Streep, 67, was in Rome to promote her new film Florence Foster Jenkins.
And Streep looked every bit as glamorous as her on screen character as she battled the elements in the Italian capital.
Despite some rain and blustery weather, the Oscar-winner looked stunning in a silk blouse, which she teamed with a pair of coordinating trousers and elegant black heels.

In the film Streep plays eponymous New York heiress Florence Foster Jenkins, who became an opera singer despite her painful lack of singing skill.
I thought opera was boring so I quit and started smoking
But while her character in the film is famous for her lack of vocal ability, Streep admitted that she actually studied opera in her youth.
Streep was in Rome to promote her new film Florence Foster Jenkins
She said: “I’d travel from New Jersey to New York to study with her (Streep’s teacher). She was a great teacher and I was an idiot.
"I was a teenager. I thought opera was boring, and I wanted to be a cheerleader, so I quit and started smoking.”
