The presenter said that despite the fact he was good friends with boss Kevin Lygo - who replaces Peter Fincham - he still didn't know for certain what was going to happen.
The 55-year-old's contract is thought to be coming to an end later this year, six years after he moved to the channel from the BBC.
Former director of television at Channel 4, Kevin, famously axed Big Brother when ratings fell back in 2010.
Jonathan said: "I’m fairly lucky in that I normally get on with most people - and Kevin is one of the closest friends I’ve had in television in a long while."

However, the father-of-three added: "But maybe I’m not safe, as being friends with him means he can actually be more honest with me than anyone else, so who knows?
"I’m still enjoying the chat show - it’s a job,” he said during an interview with the Daily Mirror.
The Jonathan Ross Show's average audience since January has been 2.7 million, while The Graham Norton Show, which kicked off in September, has been attracting an average of 3.9 million.

Back in 2014, Jonathan said changes would be made: "We’ll be shaking up the format of the show in October - that will be the first big shake up in a while.
"We do it every six years to keep the show fresh. So expect a few surprises - and we’re still striving to get top guests."
Series 10 of The Jonathan Ross Show continues on Saturday at 9.20pm on ITV.
