Sir David Frost's son Miles could have lived if he'd known about genetic heart condition
SIR DAVID FROST'S eldest son died of a rare heart condition, which doctors reportedly failed to inform him and his family about.
Sir David Frost's son died of a rare heart condition
Miles Frost passed away last summer aged 31, after being found close to his home after heading out for a jog.
His sudden death was due to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a treatable condition he and his brothers inherited from their famous father.
Sir David, who died in August 2013, did not know he had HCM, which has a 50 per cent chance of being passed down onto offspring.
Speaking to the Sunday Times magazine, Miles' brothers Wilfred and George open up about their "agony" of not knowing about HMC.

David's sons were not informed of the genetic condition HCM
They wrote: "The condition that Miles suffered from was unidentified until his death. HCM is a genetic condition caused by a change or mutation in one or more genes, and is passed on through families."
The pair continued: "Dad did not die from HCM, but it transpires that his postmortem showed that the condition was present, although he didn't know it.
"Sadly, this was not flagged up to us; thus Miles, George and I were not tested two years ago, as we should have been. Clearly, this adds to the agony relating to Miles's death."
It is not clear why they weren’t told of the risks but have said "there is nothing to be gained from regretting missed opportunities".

HCM can cause sudden death at any age, especially in young people who push their bodies through exercise.
It can be kept at bay with proper treatment, including a pacemaker or ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator).
The Miles Frost Fund has since been set up in his memory to raise money to test for the genetic heart condition
David also has two other sons with Lady Carina Fitzalan-Howard
