'I get what a big deal it is to be a gran now' Coleen Nolan gushes over granddaughter

Coleen's eldest son Shane Richie Jnr welcomed a baby girl named Amelia Rose with his friend Emma Kivell on January 13.

Recalling the moment she met her granddaughter for the first time, 50-year-old Coleen gushed: "It’s been a surreal few days. We were all in tears when Amelia was born. She is absolutely stunning, she was beautifully pink as soon as she was born.

“She has a mop of black hair and she’s a mix of her mummy and daddy. She has Shane’s eyes and nose, and her mum’s lips and cheeks. She’s gorgeous."

She continued to The Mirror: "The moment Shane held her was so emotional and I really got what the big deal is about becoming a grandparent. It was my baby holding his baby, it was overwhelming. I felt so proud of him."

Despite admitting it felt "amazing" to be a nanny, Coleen revealed that it was a "scary day" for all of them.

“Emma was in labour for about 12 hours, it was difficult. Shane was amazing. He was cool as a cucumber, you’d think it was his 10th child," she explained.

Shane, who is Coleen's eldest child with ex-husband Shane Richie, isn't currently in a relationship with Emma - but knows hers as a friend.

Commenting on the situation, Coleen said: "I grew up in a more conservative time but I’ve become much more liberal because of Loose Women. Shane and Emma had known each other a while as friends – they were Bluecoats. Then they got together one night and there you go. But they’re not compatible in a relationship.

"Obviously you wish they were madly in love and could see a future together, that’s the best scenario for anyone,” she added. "But then I thought, 'Oh my God I’m going to be a nanny' - and I was thrilled."

Yesterday, Shane took to his Twitter account to gush about his new baby girl too.

"I think I may only love one girl ever, never felt anything like it #Amelia," he tweeted to his 29.2k followers.

Shane is the lead singer of The SRJ Band, but is currently starring in Last Night Musical.
