'I really did well' Carrie Fisher takes James Blunt as her date to Star Wars premiere
IT'S an unlikely pairing, but Carrie Fisher couldn't have spoken more fondly about her "date" James Blunt, as she spoke to reporters at last night's Star Wars premiere in London.
Carrie Fisher took James Blunt as her date to the star-studded premiere
The 59-year-old actress - who played pin-up Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy - took both pooch Gary and the British-born singer as her dates to the European premiere of the eagerly anticipated movie.
Carrie and James may be a rather bizarre couple, but the Hollywood icon was keen to make their love for one another known as she chatted to Express.co.uk at the premiere, which was held in Leicester Square.
When asked what the premiere had been like, she replied: "I get James Blunt! For a date, yes. I really did well… You see you can get this but you have to be good."
Carrie, who wore a black satin gown complete with lace neckline, continued: "I have a lot of friends here, I want to live here."

This certainly isn't the first time Carrie and James have hung out, with him even recording his new album in her bathroom in Los Angeles.
James previously revealed: "She's a weird and wonderful person.
"I was introduced through friends in London and I said, 'I've got a record deal and I'm going to Los Angeles' and she said, 'well where are you staying' and I said, 'I have nowhere'.
"She said, 'well then you're staying at my house' and she put me in her guest room."

Carrie told reporters that James Blunt was her date for the night
James Blunt aside, the Star Wars plot has been a closely guarded secret ahead of the UK release today, and Carrie made sure she did not give anything away.
Speaking about what she could reveal, she quipped last night: "It’s like two hours, my hair is long then inexplicably it becomes like a baboon's a**."
The likes of Stephen Fry and his spouse Elliott Spencer also turned up to see the much-talked about flick, with them posing alongside Carrie's date on the red carpet.
The screen legend seemed happy for Gary to hog the limelight
Carrie was joined by original stars Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill
Star Wars creator George Lucas and the new film's director and co-writer JJ Abrams were also at the event.
George, who created the franchise back in 1977, said: "All of the premieres have always been in London. It's like coming home to an event we've done for the last 40 years but this was the biggest by far."
Other stars of the film walking the red carpet included Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson and Gwendoline Christie.
