Dane Bowers spared jail after 'throttling beauty queen ex-girlfriend in row over glitter'
FORMER Another Level singer Dane Bowers has avoided jail after hitting his ex girlfriend Sophia Cahill in the face.
Dane Bowers was sentenced today
District Judge Andrew Street sentenced him to 20 weeks' imprisonment suspended for 18 months at Croydon Magistrates' Court in south London.
He explained, earlier today: "Miss Cahill had to attend court and relive the events of the 29th of January."
The judge then added: "A further aggravating feature in addition to the pushing and falling to the ground was that you struck Miss Cahill in the face.
"This was a sustained assault over some period of time. There were clearly difficulties in the relationship but you have difficulties controlling your anger."

He continued: "This offence passes the custody threshold. I'm going to suspend that imprisonment because the impact of imprisonment would be considerable.
"There would be the impact on your reputation and no doubt that would last for a period of time."
Dane “backhanded” Sophia, leaving her with a bloody nose during a "sustained attack" at his parents' home.
He then hurled the ex-Miss Wales into a wash-basket before throwing her on to a bed and throttling her.
She was left covered in blood with bruises to her back, thighs, calves and feet.

Couple's row over glitter escalated
Sophia had previously revealed: “As we were still living under the same roof we agreed not to disrespect each other.
“I made a comment saying that by coming home with glitter on his face he was taking the ****.
“I had caught him in bed with somebody before and that obviously gave us trust issues. He backhanded me. I was just shocked.”
The couple had split up at the time, but were living separately in the home that they shared with Dane's parents.
