The 54-year-old TV presenter took a walk down memory lane today when she visited the historic campus where she honed the mathematical skills that launched her into stardom on Countdown.
Accompanied by her mother Edwina and son Cameron, Carol was bursting with pride to witness her "beautiful girl" graduate from the second-oldest university in the country with her master's degree in physics.
Carol gushed about the "golden day" on Twitter: "I could not be prouder of my special girl Katie. An M.A. (Cantab) and an M.Sci (Cantab). Girls CAN do Engineering/Physics/Chemistry and love it #Cambridge #Mum&Daughter."

Her daughter clearly inherited her intelligence and studied double-maths, physics and chemistry at A-level and received four A* grades before gaining a place at the prestigious institution.
Katie's father, Carol's second husband management consultant Patrick King, appeared to be absent from the family celebrations.
In January, the maths whizz revealed that her daughter is going to continue her studies and is applying for PHD courses in Physics and Chemistry.

She wore her blonde locks in voluminous waves and sported a natural make-up look with a slick of pale pink lipstick.
Her daughter was dressed traditionally in a cap and gown, and clutched her degree in hand.
