JK Rowling took to Twitter today to express her shock at stumbling upon pictures of the 25-year-old actor in such a state of undress.
The 49-year-old Harry Potter author joked Matthew – who starred as the hapless Neville Longbottom in the wizarding series – should have warned her about the risqué images.
Tweeting the star, she wrote: "@Mattdavelewis Not as bad as watching Dan in Equus, but close. Warn me next time, for God's sake."
"Well, this is awkward. Sorry, Jo…," heartthrob Matthew replied.

JK continued: "I will always support you whatever you want to do, Matthew. Now go put some clothes on."
She jokingly added: "I hastily averted my eyes and read an article on Political Correctness to get over the shock."
Matthew set pulses racing today as his steamy cover for Attitude emerged.
The hunky actor, who used to wear a fat suit to play the goofy Hogwarts student, displayed his impressively, muscly physique on the cover of this month's magazine.
Posing in a pair of white boxer shorts and a chunky cardigan, the 25-year-old's six pack is impossible to miss as he discusses his latest film role in Me Before You.

When asked about his transformation, Matthew said: "My character, Patrick, is a triathlete and personal trainer, so he’s totally focused on the race.
"I spoke to the director and I said it’d be nice to get into the mindset of someone like that, because he’s not drinking alcohol, he’s just eating salads.
"I was very interested to know where you go to in your mind to have that level of commitment."
