Cristiano Ronaldo donates £5million to Save the Children charity to help Nepal relief
FOOTBALLER Cristiano Ronaldo has donated £5million to Save the Children charity as it continues to help victims in Nepal.
Cristiano Ronaldo made a generous donation to Save the Children
The Real Madrid striker allegedly donated €7million (£5million) as a reference to his number 7 football shirt.
A second destructive earthquake hit Nepal earlier this week while it was still recovering from the first in April, which killed approximately 8,000 people.
Cristiano, a father-of-one, took to Twitter to encourage others to make a donation to the earthquake relief fund.
He wrote: "Help the children affected by #NepalQuake by supporting @SavetheChildren’s relief efforts."
Cristiano is a father to Cristiano Jr. and has a history of helping children in need
The 30-year-old from Portugal is one of the highest paid athletes in the world, with an estimated fortune of £107million, and he had a museum dedicated to himself.
But the star has a heart-warming history of giving back to charity – and in particular helping children.
Last year he helped to raise money for a brain operation for a 10-month-old baby.
Not only did he donate a shirt and boots to the cause, he also paid for the £52,000 surgery itself.
Earlier in 2012, he showed his kind nature again by paying for a nine-year-old's cancer treatment.
