Cliff Richard vows to clear his name
SIR CLIFF RICHARD has thanked his fans for their support and vowed to clear his name as police continue to investigate a sex abuse allegation against the star.
The Living Doll hitmaker was thrust into the spotlight last month (Aug14) when cops swooped on his home in Berkshire, England for a search as part of a probe into an allegation that a boy under the age of 16 was assaulted in 1985.
Richard, who vehemently denies the claim, subsequently jetted back home from a vacation in Portugal to be quizzed by police officers, and now he has released a statement thanking his fans for standing by him during such a difficult time.
In a note posted on his Facebook.com page, he writes, "Hi everyone, this is just a brief message to thank all of you who have shown support, including those in the press. I wanted to let you know that I'm doing ok and it goes without saying that I fully intend to clear my name. Just to be absolutely clear, the allegation is completely false and I will continue to cooperate with the police should they wish to speak to me again. Once again... many thanks!"
