Frankie Boyle calls for the BBC to sack Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson
CONTROVERSIAL comic Frankie Boyle has called for the BBC to get rid of Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson 'because he's a cultural tumour'.
The 42-year-old comedian's remarks come after Clarkson issued a public apology for using language deemed racist in an outtake video from the hit BBC 2 motoring programme.
Boyle, who more usually makes the news by offending people including Olympic swimming star Rebecca Adlington, says the 54-year-old Top Gear presenter "should be removed".
Speaking at the Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, Boyle said:"He comes from a very bad place and the reason he's tolerated is that he's recognised by people in power -in fact he's a friend of [David] Cameron's.
He added: "He's in there like a f***ing growth and he should be removed because he's horrible."
"Sack him because he's a cultural tumour," he said.
Danny Cohen, the BBC's director of television, expressing his dismay at Clarkson's behaviour over the past couple of months on Friday.
Speaking to the audience at the Edinburgh International Festival, he said:"No one is bigger than the BBC and that includes me. I found [the language] entirely unacceptable."

However, Cohen revealed that Clarkson had rejected criticisms of his language when the pair had discussed the issue privately.
“I was very, very clear in public and in private with Jeremy that I was incredibly unhappy with his language,” he said.
“I’ve made that really clear, Jeremy knows that’s my position. I talked to loads of people who think that me being so angry about it is an over-reaction.
“He disagrees too by the way, he doesn’t see a problem with some of the language he used. I do. I think it was unacceptable and I’ve made that really, really clear to him and we’ll go from there.”
