It's a record! The Inbetweeners 2 takes £2.75million at the box office on opening day
THE first film set the record for the biggest opening weekend for a comedy film in the UK, so it was no surprise that The Inbetweeners 2 as been just as successful.
The new movie opened in cinemas across the UK yesterday and took over £2.75million at the box office - beating it’s record-breaking predecessor.
The film, which sees Will, Simon, Jay & Neil visit Australia, has also opened to critical acclaim, with many praising The Inbetweeners 2 as a sequel even funnier than the first movie.
Having started life on E4, the multi award-winning TV series went on to enjoy massive success - so it's no surprise that fans wanted a second film.
Ahead of the film's release, James Buckley - who plays fouled mouthed Jay - told Express.co.uk that the lads are feeling the pressure.
"We are always paranoid and worried about letting people down. Even if we were making The Godfather 2 we’d be going, ‘Oh God, this isn’t good, is it?’" he said.
"We are a director's nightmare," he continued.
"Any other job we’d be fired, and we were especially bad on this film.
"We cottoned on to how important we were. Without us there was no film, so we were a bit cocky and mucked about even more and wound the directors up.
"We displayed absolutely no professionalism at all. It’s been like that with us since day one."
