Golden boys! David Beckham and sons get gunked in slime at Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards
HE WAS given the nickname Goldenballs during his footballing days, but fans of David Beckham seemed to take the joke to new levels last night after they covered him in golden goo at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.
The retired footballer - who is currently holidaying in LA with his family - was left covered in the slime after taking to the stage with his two sons Romeo and Cruz to collect an award.
Looking dapper, the trio seemed completely unaware of what was about to take place as they happily collected the rocket-shaped trophy, and continued to smile widely at the audience.
However, within minutes, a powerful spray of sticky gold paint headed towards them, covering them from head to toe.
And while David seemed to find the funny side of it, his two sons - who failed to escape the gunge - didn't seem as impressed.
Nine-year-old Cruz looked devastated as he looked down at his ruined T-shirt, while seemingly asking for his dad's help with removing the liquid from his eyes.
Romeo seemed a little less worried about his clothes, but sat rubbing the liquid off his face.
The trio were later given towels to remove the golden gunk from their faces, and seemed in much higher spirits as they laughed at each other's appearance.
Earlier in the night, the family - who were minus Brooklyn, Harper and Victoria - looked every inch the handsome threesome as they posed up a storm on the red carpet.
David looked stylish in a polkadot shirt and black jeans, while Romeo and Cruz both opted for white T-shirts and perfectly coiffed hair.
Victoria recently revealed that her and her family- who lived in LA for five years when David played for LA Galaxy - head across the pond every school holiday.
Opening up for their feelings towards the place in an interview with Vogue, the mother-of-four said: "It’s the space, it’s the can-do, positive attitude, it’s the freedom."
