'I will never forget this' Kate Winslet receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
BRITISH actress Kate Winslet was honoured in Tinseltown today as she was given a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 38-year-old said she will "never forget" receiving a place on the sidewalk that pays tribute to cinema icons on Hollywood Boulevard.
The Reading born actress received the honour in front of a packed crowd on a sunny day in Los Angeles.
Kathy Bates, who starred alongside Mrs Winslet in Titanic, and Shailene Woodley, who stars in the Oscar winner's latest film Divergent, were also at the ceremony.
The six time Oscar nominated star said she was surprised to see so many people watch the ceremony after an earthquake hit Hollywood earlier that day.
Speaking on stage, Mrs Winslet said: "Here I am this morning at the infamous corner of Hollywood and vine.
"I believe that so many great young aspiring actors first stepped off the bus with the hope of embarking on a film career from this very spot we all stand in today.
"I feel very honoured 20 years into my own career to be standing in such a poignant place and being celebrated in such a spectacular fashion."
Leron Gubler, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, who introduced the actress to the stage declared it "Kate Winslet day in Hollywood."
The actress said she was "completely overwhelmed" by the amount of people who came to see her receive the honour.
She also reminisced about how seeing Ms Bates reminded her of how young she was when filmed Titanic.
She said: "I'm very struck seeing Kathy here that Titanic was 18 years ago. I had my 21st birthday on that film shoot. I'm 38 now.
"It's really, really wonderful to be here and to be given this award, this accolade, this wonderful moment in my life that I know I will never forget."
