Dominic Cooper predicts storm over Ian Fleming drama
Actor DOMINIC COOPER is expecting to feel the full wrath of critics when his new drama hits the small screen next month (Feb14) because he looks nothing like JAMES BOND creator IAN FLEMING.
The Mamma Mia! star plays the 007 writer in four-part drama Fleming, which explores the author's real-life exploits and how they became the inspiration for his famous fictional superspy.
However, the 5 feet 8 inches (1.75 metres), dark-haired star is predicting he'll receive a rough ride from critics - because he is nothing like tall, fair-haired Fleming.
He tells Event magazine, "I am completely aware I look nothing like him. I'm also completely aware I may get slammed for that. And I know that people will look at me and say I am a ridiculous person to play Fleming.
"Fleming was tall, fair and very aristocratic and I am none of those things. Our backgrounds and education couldn't be more different."
Cooper is also adamant the series is not a biography and his portrayal of the late writer, who died in 1964, is "that midpoint between Fleming and the character of Bond that he created".
