Clare Balding is feeling festive as she attends charity Christmas carol service
CLARE BALDING officially unveiled a charity Christmas tree in London today.
The former jockey appeared in London's Convent Garden this afternoon to launch cancer charity Macmillan's Tree of Light campaign.
Enjoying a bout of festive carol singing and tree decorating, the sports personality was full of smiles despite the sombre theme of the event.
Taking to social media to explain her role in the campaign, Clare tweeted: "The idea is you dedicate a bauble to someone affected by cancer.
She continued: "I think it's a lovely way to remember & celebrate #MacmillanTreeofLight"
The BBC sport presenter got involved with the charity in honour of her late friend Rory Morrison.
Clare was photographed climbing a ladder set beside the tree to place a bauble in honour of the late Radio 4 DJ.
Ms Balding has herself been shaken with the disease, diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2009.
She had surgery to remove the affected gland and had to follow up the operations with a course of radiotherapy.
Very aware of the important role that research and funding plays in the fight against cancer Clare is keen for her fans to donate to the Tree of Light appeal.
