Hugh Jackman says attending glitzy ceremonies was a “schizophrenic” experience
THE 2013 awards season looked like it was a lot of fun for Hugh Jackman, who along with his Les Misérables movie co-stars trod the red carpets of Hollywood and beyond picking up accolades for the hit musical.
Yet the Aussie actor, 44, says that taking time out from filming gritty thriller Prisoners to attend the annual series of glitzy ceremonies earlier this year was a “schizophrenic” experience.
Hugh plays an increasingly desperate father looking for his lost daughter in Prisoners, out this week.
“The weird thing was doing awards season for Les Mis at the same time as filming,” says Hugh, who won the Best Actor Golden Globe for his portrayal of Jean Valjean and was nominated at the Oscars and BAFTAs.
“So I was on the red carpet and drinking champagne at weekends and then coming back to this.
I was schizophrenic for a while there but in the end that whole awards season distraction really helped in letting go of the character.
