Royal birth to be acknowledged in tonight's episode of EastEnders
THE Royal baby may only be a day old, but he's already made it into the EastEnders storyline.
The BBC soap is set to acknowledge the birth in tonight's episode after doing some last minute filming yesterday.
Following the announcement that the Duchess of Cambridhe had given birth to a healthy baby boy at 4.24pm, actresses June Brown and Lorna Fitzgerald, who play Dot and Abi Branning, filmed a scene which shows them discussing the happy news.
"This is such a momentous occasion for the Royal family, the country and of course the residents of Walford that we felt it should be marked in EastEnders history," an EastEnders spokeswoman said.
This is not the first time the show has celebrated historical events. It has previously made references to the couple's wedding and has honoured sporting achievements including Olympic success in 2012 and Andy Murray's Wimbledon win.
