'I'm just happier with me now' Cheryl Cole on why she's looking forward to turning 30
CHERYL Cole has revealed that she has no fear when it comes to turning 30 at the end of the month.
The British singer, who will celebrate her birthday on June 30, has admitted that she would never want to return to her early twenties because she's learnt so much since then.
"When I look at the 21 year old me, I do not want to be that person," she told the July issue of UK InStyle magazine. "I was young and naïve. I’m a hell of a lot wiser, a hell of a lot stronger, I’m just happier with me now. It’s weird but I’m not scared of it."
Cheryl is no doubt referring to her failed marriage to footballer Ashley Cole, which was plagued by rumours of affairs and several 'kiss and tell' stories.
I was young and naïve. I’m a hell of a lot wiser, a hell of a lot stronger, I’m just happier with me now. It’s weird but I’m not scared of it.
The pretty star has come along way since then, having carved out a successful solo career and recently reigniting the love for Girls Aloud, but unfortunately that chapter of her life is now well and truly over.
"We’ve definitely split," she confirmed to the magazine. "I know Nadine always said that she never thought we should say out loud the words 'we’ve split,' but at the same time we don’t want to mislead the fans."
Cheryl isn't even planning on reuniting with the girl band in the future, as she added: "I hope to God I’m not turning up to Girls Aloud jumping around doing all the routines when I’m 45!"
Instead she's concentrating on her solo work and perhaps an acting career too, but is not considering going back to reality television following her axe from the US version of the X Factor.
"The last X Factor series I did was too hard for me. I wasn’t right in my mind enough to give it my everything and be focused. And I wasn’t strong enough mentally," she explained.
However, she has buried the hatchet with Simon Cowell but doesn't feel the need to talk about the TV show to him.
"I’ve seen Simon since. Like, we’re friends again. But, I don’t talk about flagging things to him. He’d have a meltdown," she revealed.
The full interview with Cheryl can be seen in the latest issue of UK InStyle magazine which is out on Thursday June 6.
