Kate Humble roughs it for her next show
NO ONE can accuse Kate Humble of not going to the extreme for her new show. The ex-Springwatch star spent three weeks in Afghanistan filming her new BBC Two documentary about shepherds called Wild Shepherdess With Kate Humble, which will be screened in June.
“It was really unnerving but we had to pass through Kabul to get to some of the most traditional shepherds on earth,” explains Kate, 44.
“We had to travel along one of the most dangerous roads in the world to get to the airport – the other day a suicide bomber killed 12 expat workers a couple of miles away.”
Despite having her own sheep farm in Wales it seems that the freezing temperatures and high altitude were clearly a world away from what Kate was used to.
“It’s an exhausting way of life and it was also extremely cold. At times I would have done almost anything to have a hot bath.”
