Mick Jagger's love letters fetch £190k
PASSIONATE love letters written by Mick Jagger to his then secret girlfriend Marsha Hunt in 1969 have sold for just under £190,000.
The Rolling Stone was 25 and in Australia filming Ned Kelly when he sent the letters to Hunt, the American singer and star of musical Hair. The band’s 1971 hit Brown Sugar was inspired by the beauty.
The 10 letters, described by Sotheby’s as “remarkable and articulate” and giving “a rare glimpse” of Jagger sold at auction for £187,250.
Hunt, 66, the mother of Jagger’s first child, daughter Karis, said she had sold the letters to pay for repairs to her house in France.
She added: “The letters speak for Mick at an incredible juncture of our lives.”
