Cowell refuses to bury hatchet with Young
WILL YOUNG's POP IDOL triumph in 2002 still annoys SIMON COWELL - and he's taken aim at the chart-topping singer in a new interview a decade after his win.
The music mogul struggles to accept that Young was crowned the first-ever Pop Idol, admitting he's never been a fan of the Leave Right Now hitmaker because he was gunning for Gareth Gates in the final.
Cowell makes his feelings very clear on upcoming documentary The Talent Show, ranting, "I thought he was obnoxious, full of himself."
He adds, "I thought, 'This will be interesting. You don't like me, and I don't like you.' Nothing's changed, particularly. I felt sick. That's how much it affected me.
"I still, to this day, can't watch the final back because I was really, really disappointed. I really liked Gareth and wanted him to win."
The Talent Show will air on ITV1 on Saturday.
