Spielberg in choppy water after breaking Italy's beach laws
Director STEVEN SPIELBERG has been fined by the Italian coastguard for mooring his speedboat too close to a beach in Sardinia.
The Jaws legend is currently enjoying a vacation with pals, including his goddaughter Gwyneth Paltrow, on his luxurious super-yacht, Seven Seas, off the coast of the idyllic Italian island.
But after his crew used a speedboat to drop Spielberg and his entourage off at the beach near Porto Liscia, he ran into trouble with the local law, which forbid boats with engines from coming too close to the shore over fears for swimmers' safety.
According to the Daily Telegraph, he was fined £151 by the coastguard, who had been alerted by angry beach-goers.
Coast guard Commander Vincenzo Petrella says, "For using his engine within 300 metres of the coast, instead of rowing in, Spielberg received a ?172 fine. But he clearly didn't know he had broken the rules and was a real gentleman about it. The fine was paid promptly the following morning."
