Ricky Gervais’ partner issues angry update after obituary announces death

Ricky Gervais’ partner Jane Fallon has been left fuming after a “disgusting” fake obituary was posted announcing her death. The 65-year-old bestselling author, who has been dating comedian Ricky for more than 40 years, announced her health news in March after a routine mammogram found a tumour.

Despite a surgery to remove the cancer which “basically got it all”, AI-generated and fake images have been circulating online, claiming Jane had passed away. She took to X to fume about the horrific trolling but later deleted the post, instead referencing it: “I’ve taken the post about the obituary down, because I don’t want people to think I’m upset by it.

“P***ed off, yes. But more, I just want people to know that any photos you see of me in hospital, looking sad or with tubes sticking out of me, are 100% fake – AI generated.”

Fans rushed to support her, sending Jane sweet snaps of their beloved pets. One wrote: “That is terrible Jane, so sorry you had to see that crap. People can be so cruel.”

Another said: “It is so sad that you have to make this post. You have been so brave being so honest about your illness. I love your posts! Some people are awful and this AI generation is awful! Look after yourself and your gorgeous family, that’s all that matters.”

Jane previously said of her cancer: “About a month ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer – very early stage thankfully & the prognosis is excellent.

“I had a routine mammogram a week before Christmas. I had no symptoms but the brilliant radiographer spotted something iffy & sent me for further tests & eventually a biopsy.

“Since then I’ve had more mammograms, more biopsies and an MRI so they can pinpoint the problem area precisely. It’s been a lot, I’m not going to lie.”

After the surgery, she said she was feeling “remarkably fine”, adding: “8-10 days wait for confirmation that they’ve got it all & the margins are clear (small % chance of more surgery if not).”
