(Image: Getty)Legendary entertainer Dick Van Dyke is preparing to celebrate his 100th birthday on December 13, and a constant presence by his side as he gets set for the big day has been his wife, make-up artist Arlene Silver, 54. The couple met in 2006 backstage at the SAG Awards and married within six years when he was 86, and she was 40.
While such a gap might raise eyebrows in the 'real world', in celebland it is not that unusual, with numerous Hollywood couples boasting a vast age difference. Although Dick and Arlene's vast age difference is one of the biggest gaps to date, they are not alone in finding love with someone from a completely different generation. In many cases, one half of the couple wasn't even born when their significant other first found fame. Despite this, they somehow still manage to make the unions work and have long and happy lives together. Here are some couples with the largest age disparities.
Star Wars legend Harrison Ford, 83, and Ally McBeal star wife, Calista Flockhart, 61, first met at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards and tied the knot on June 15, 2010.
Calsita has said the age difference doesn't bother her, saying: "It doesn’t faze me. It doesn’t factor into our relationship at all. I like the way he looks first thing in the morning. It’s not handsome, it’s more cute. He looks like a little boy."

Wednesday star Catherine Zeta-Jones, 56, and her husband, Fatal Attraction legend Michael Douglas, 81, share a birthday, albeit a quarter of a century apart.
Opening up about their relationship in an interview with The Independent, Catherine said: “We don’t listen to the crap that is written about us, that’s the main thing. And we respect our space, we’re independent spirits. We are very similar; we were born on the same day, 25 years apart. We’re not afraid to be verbal, to express ourselves. I wear everything on my sleeve and so does he, which is good.”

Wicked star Jeff Goldblum, 73, and former gymnast, Emilie Livingston, 37, have been married since 2014 and share two sons together: Charlie Ocean Goldblum and River Joe Goldblum.
Jeff has said of their relationship: "I've been married thrice, but the last time and the most wonderful time, that's left me still intoxicated with ecstasy is with Emilie now."

Dame Joan Collins, 92, and her husband Percy Gibson, 60, have been married since February 2002, and their over three-decade age gap has never appeared to be an issue.
It was Joan's fifth trip down the aisle, and she had described this marriage as her best. "I believe in marriage, which is why I've done it five times – and I finally have a wonderful marriage," she told Louis Theroux in a BBC documentary.
"Percy is 30-odd years younger than me, but I don't even feel my age. I don't even talk about it; I don't even think about it," she said.
