Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher confessed he is "absolutely devastated" upon learning about the passing of his close friend and Stone Roses bassist, Gary 'Mani' Mounfield. The news of the musician's death was announced today (November 20) after his brother Greg confirmed the devastating news on Facebook. The hitmaker was just 63 when he died, although his cause of death has yet to be revealed.

Since the news was confirmed, friends and family of the late rocker have taken to social media to pay their respects and share their condolences with the family online. One of the famous faces to share their sympathies was Liam, who turned to X - formerly known as Twitter - just hours before he was set to take to the stage.

He wrote: "IN TOTAL SHOCK AND ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED ON HEARING THE NEWS ABOUT MANI MY HERO RIP RKID LG." It is understood both the Gallagher brothers were close with Mani at the height of their fame in the 90s and early noughties.

Oasis are due to play one of their reunion tours in the heart of South America tonight, taking to the stage in Chile before moving on to Sa Paulo in Brazil. It is expected that the brothers will share a special tribute or dedication to the musician, like they did for Ricky Hatton and Diogo Jota.

Tributes have been pouring in online for the grieving family, with many of Mani's fans taken aback by his sudden passing just weeks after he announced an upcoming tour. Mani was due to hold a series of conversation tours across the UK between September 2026 and June 2027.

The tour would allow fans to take a peek behind the curtain at his rise to fame and what life was like being part of The Stone Roses and Primal Scream at the height of their fame.

Sharing the devastating news about his brother's passing, Greg wrote on Facebook: "IT IS WITH THE HEAVIEST OF HEARTS THAT I HAVE TO ANNOUNCE THE SAD PASSING OF MY BROTHER GARY MANI MOUNFIELD. RIP RKID."

He added: "Reunited with his beautiful wife, Imelda, who died just two years prior, almost to the day. Alongside the post, he shared a snap of the musician with his late wife, both beaming while on holiday.

Meanwhile, fellow Stone Roses band member and lead singer of the band Ian Brown, shared a post in memory of Mani this afternoon. The short but sweet post on X read: "REST IN PEACE MANI" which he signed off with a kiss.
