Former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that he was embroiled in a tense showdown with one of his neighbours last month. The Clarkson's Farm star vented his fury on social media after a biplane looped Diddly Squat farm four times. Sharing the flight path on Instagram with his followers, Clarkson complained that the Pitts Special S2A spent seven minutes circling his farm on May 3rd. He also issued the statement, “Fit it with a f***ing silencer.” The plane was occupied by ex-RAF pilot and British Airways captain Mike Edwards, who wrote to Clarkson to apologise for any problems caused.

He said to The Sun, “I’ve written to Mr Clarkson to say I’m sorry and didn’t mean to cause any problems. I was practising my aerobatics, going up to 2,000ft and doing loops and rolls – using a railway line as a guide. As a professional pilot of 40 years, safety is at the heart of all I do."

He added, “That’s why I practise the routines nice and high and try and get away from people. I live down the road so I wouldn’t want to annoy my neighbours with the noise. If Mr Clarkson wanted to come up with me I’d be more than happy to show him Diddly Squat Farm.”

One of Jeremy's fans joked in the comments, "The council has gone to extreme lengths to spy on Diddly Squat." Another similarly left a sarcastic comment saying, "Tonight on Clarkson’s Farm: 'I install anti aircraft missiles!'"

Fellow flyer Tom Saunders, 44, posted in response to Clarkson, “Silencer was too expensive so I sent Jeremy these earmuffs.”

Clarkson's Farm has proved to be a big hit since it first aired in 2021 on Amazon Prime, and Jeremy says that the success came as something of a surprise to him.

He explained: "I did think it'd serve up gentle disappointment to the Top Gear, Grand Tour audience. I was very much typecast as this man who drove around corners too quickly while shouting and using hyperbole to make a point. I thought, why would anybody who watches Top Gear or The Grand Tour want to watch this bucolic show about farming?

"Then they did, and it brought a whole new audience who'd never watched a single programme I'd made."

Clarkson's Farm can be streamed on Prime Video now.
