BBC Countryfile’s Julia Bradbury’s big lifestyle change since cancer battle
BBC Countryfile presenter Julia Bradbury was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021 and has since made a number of lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of it returning.

Countryfile star Julia Bradbury has divulged the crucial lifestyle adjustment she's adopted to diminish her chances of relapse. The 54-year-old presenter had a single mastectomy in 2021 after a breast cancer diagnosis amid the coronavirus lockdown. Subsequently, she completely abandoned alcohol - a decision that some find "infuriating". In conversation with The Times, she remarked: "I get a lot of pushback on social media about this. People go, 'I was healthy, I go to the gym, I got cancer, and now its metastasised and I've got secondary cancer. So are you blaming me for my illness?' No. All I'm saying is, this is what I went through."
Julia continued by referring to her diagnosis as a "wake-up call", stating it prompted her to devote more attention to her health. Besides valuing sleep and mental wellbeing, she noted that consuming over four units of alcohol weekly could increase her risk of recurrence by 28 per cent.

Despite these changes, Julia voiced her deep appreciation for her "wonderful life", as reported by SurreyLive. She shared on Instagram last year: "Getting diagnosed with cancer is the wake-up call nobody wants, but it has changed my world."
"It made me re-evaluate my health, change my habits, and I'm looking forward to exploring my emotional fitness in 2025. Every day is a gift, I'm learning more about the body and mind every day, and I'm grateful for every ounce of love and life."
In another update, she shared: "Cancer taught me that it is a true luxury to be able to spend time thinking things through, having the time and motivation to keep learning, sleeping deeply, loving your friends and family, and spending time in nature.
