Edward Fox speaks out to halt supermarket bid
ACTOR Edward Fox gave a heartfelt and theatrical performance – convincing officials not to build a supermarket near his home during a town meeting.
The Day Of The Jackal star, 73, won applause from 400 residents for his passionate speech against a planned store in Wareham, Dorset.

The councillors were so moved they voted 16 against three to scrap the plans. The star said he feared the store would “swiftly kill stone-dead” smaller shops. In his plea to the Purbeck District Council meeting, he went on: “Is there anything more lovely or more charming or more healthful and wholesome anywhere in the world?
“Does it make any sense at all to disturb this wondrous spot?”
